Michter's traces its roots back to 1753 and a distiller named John Shenk — making this one of America's oldest whiskey names, though the brand as it exists today was reborn in Kentucky in the early 2000s, dedicated to small-batch, uncompromising production.
This Toasted Barrel Finish takes Michter's signature sour mash whiskey and gives it a second maturation in a custom barrel — toasted rather than charred — adding layers of campfire warmth, cinnamon, and candied fruit on top of the base whiskey's honeyed vanilla. The result starts like a bourbon and finishes like a rye, a genuinely distinctive character among American whiskeys.
Best enjoyed neat, in a proper glass, with time to let the toasted notes unfold.
