Martini & Rossi's story begins in 1863 in Turin, when businessman Alessandro Martini, accountant Teofilo Sola, and herbalist Luigi Rossi took over a small vermouth bottling operation and transformed it into one of the most recognisable spirits brands in the world. Rossi, in particular, brought a genuine talent for herbology — his journals reveal painstaking experiments measuring out herbs and studying how their aromas interacted.
Extra Dry, launched in 1900, is the lighter, crisper sibling to the brand's original sweet Rosso — a blend of white wine and over 40 botanicals, with a drier, more restrained character that's become the classic choice for a proper Dry Martini.
The essential ingredient in a Martini or Vesper, and a clean, herbal pour on its own over ice.
