Located in Ladoix-Serrigny, at the foot of the Corton hill, just north of the Cote de Beaune, Domaine Jean-Pierre MALDANT has seen five generations of winemakers succeed each other since 1895.
In 1998, Jean-Pierre Maldant chose to abandon his work in the vineyards on behalf of the Hospices de Beaune to devote himself entirely to his estate. The succession is now ensured by his son, Pierre-Francois Maldant who vinifies the wines at the estate since 2010. The vineyard has grown to 10 ha with the acquisition of new appellations.
The estate is composed of small plots, mostly very old, located in the municipalities of Ladoix-Serrigny, Savigny-les-Beaune, Chorey-les-Beaune and Aloxe-Corton. They are planted with pinot noir for the reds, chardonnay and pinot blanc for the whites.
The Domaine offers the entire hierarchy of Burgundy wines, from the Burgundy regional appellation to the Premiers Crus and Grands Crus, among which the famous white Grand Cru « Corton Charlemagne ». The greatest care is given to the vine and grapes: reasoned cultivation, old-fashioned ploughing, manual harvesting...’ production amounts to about 50,000 bottles.
