Don Julio González was just 17 when he started distilling tequila in 1942, eventually building La Primavera distillery in the Jaliscan Highlands and spending the next forty years perfecting his craft — planting agave further apart than anyone else to let each plant fully mature, and slow-roasting piñas in 72-hour cycles for maximum sweetness. His sons created the tequila bearing his name to mark his 60th birthday in 1985, and it's widely considered the world's first true luxury tequila.
The 1942 expression honours that legacy with extended aging — 30 months in American white oak — yielding green banana, vanilla, cinnamon, and toasted oak over a base of roasted agave. Rich, smooth, and genuinely showstopping.
A tequila built for sipping slowly, neat, in a proper glass — save the mixers for something else.
