Chateau Lilian-Ladouys, Saint Estephe 2017

The 80 hectares vineyard of Lilian Ladouys is planted to 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. The vines are old, between 40 yearsto 60 years of age.

The terroir is typical of Saint Estphe with its gravel, clay and limestone soils. The estatepracticesorganic farming methods.Malolactic fermentation takes place in tank. The wine is aged in 40% new French oak barrels for between 14 and 16 months.

"The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Lilian Ladouys has a fragrant herbal waft on the nose with a core of baked red and black currants, Morello cherries, tilled earth and cedar chest. The palate is medium-bodied, delicately played and pleasantly chewy with plenty of freshness and lovely purity on the finish. The wine was aged for 15 months in French oak, 40% new. The blend is 50% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot. 80% of the production went into this grand vin."
