Owned by Japanese company Suntory, Château Lagrange underwent extensive renovations in 2013 that included modernizing their entire wine-making facilities and cellars to produce a much better wine.
Château Lagrange massive 118 hectares vineyard is planted to 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot. The wine is aged in 60% new, French oak barrels for up to 21 months before bottling.
The Fiefs de Lagrange has a light, slightly tinny bouquet with bright red cherries and a touch of blueberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, pretty and rather earthy red berry fruit with a tart, peppery finish. This is a very well made and easy-drinking Saint Julien to enjoy now with a veal steak or roasted duck breast.
